Position Summary
As a Network Security Engineer, you will play a key role in protecting enterprise networks by monitoring, managing, and securing our customers’ IT environments. You’ll work with top-tier security solutions from industry leaders like Cisco, Palo Alto, and Meraki while collaborating with cross-functional teams to prevent, detect, and mitigate security risks.
This role offers a dynamic mix of hands-on technical work, proactive threat monitoring, and customer engagement. You will also have opportunities to grow your expertise in compliance standards (PCI-DSS, HIPAA, GDPR) and emerging cybersecurity trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and respond to network security alerts, incidents, and vulnerabilities in real-time within the NOC.
- Proactively analyze security threats and implement measures to mitigate potential risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Network Ops, Systems Engineering, Incident Response) to troubleshoot complex security issues.
- Maintain and enhance security policies to align with industry best practices and compliance standards.
- Provide expert-level support to customers, ensuring their environments are secure and compliant.
- Conduct root cause analysis of security incidents and generate actionable reports.
- Stay ahead of cybersecurity trends and contribute to continuous improvements in network security.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Three or more years of hands-on experience in network security engineering.
- Proficiency with Cisco (Catalyst/Nexus, ASA, FTD), Palo Alto firewalls, and Meraki solutions.
- Expertise in firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, endpoint security, and security protocols (RADIUS, TACACS+, 802.1X).
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, VPNs, LAN/WAN).
- Experience with ticketing and monitoring tools like Freshworks and Logic Monitor.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex security issues.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or similar certification.
- Advanced knowledge of routing, switching, and firewalls.
- Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure) and hybrid network environments.
- Familiarity with scripting (Python, PowerShell) for automation.
- Ability to pass a CJIS background check.
